It is an unfortunate fact that crime is a very real part of our daily lives here in South Africa. It has become more and more necessary to implement security strategies to keep our homes and businesses safe. One of the most effective and popular security measures is an Alarm System.

Alarm systems have been around for quite a few years. Their technology has improved though, and they are now able to protect properties in a much more effective manner. An alarm system is a unit which will alert to trespassing. It will basically give off a very high pitched sound when any perimeter in its designated area has been compromised. For example, an alarm system will be set up in a house or office. It will then be set to protect specified areas, which will be marked by numbers. If any door is opened or there is any significant movement in those protected areas, then the alarm will go off. In this way, the alarm can be activated for the downstairs section of a double storey home, whilst everyone is sleeping upstairs. This still gives the people in the home freedom to go the bathroom upstairs without the alarm going off. It is only when they enter the downstairs perimeter that the alarm will go off.

There are many different tones and pitches you can get for alarm systems. It all depends on what you feel would be suitable in alerting yourself or your neighbours that something untoward is going on in your home or office. In most cases, it is always best to have the alarm system connected to an armed response unit. Security Companies will normally install an alarm system for their clients, in exchange for their services as a response unit for them. This way, whenever your alarm goes off, you will have the response unit going to your property to check that everything is alright.

There are many different types of alarm systems available out there. You can even get specialised ones that have laser beams, which are highly targeted in protecting areas. The laser beams make it virtually impossible for trespassers to bypass the alarm system. A lot of high value premises will have laser beam alarm systems, so that their perimeters cannot be compromised. On the same subject, a lot of electric fences will be connected to an alarm system, so that if someone tries to enter the property, the alarm will be activated and the response unit will be sent out.

If you are looking into installing an alarm system, it is best to contact a security company. They will work in conjunction with alarm system companies. That way you will have an alarm system installed, along with a security company to react should anything go wrong. This will give you a lot of peace of mind when you are going on holiday and would like your home to stay safe. There are many different alarm systems available, which are tailor made to suit certain specifications, property sizes and needs.
